Survey looks for patient experiences of GP out-of-hours and NHS111 service across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent

The NHS commissioners of services across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent want to find out about patients’ experiences of using GP out-of-hours services and NHS111.

To do this they have launched an online survey that will run until July 21, 2019.

The information will be used to commission an integrated service that is simple to understand, will deliver the right support, and offer GP out-of-hours appointments in the most appropriate locations.

Dr Steve Fawcett, CCG Medical Director and Staffordshire GP said: “Currently there are different out-of-hours GP services across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. We want to hear what people find works well, what could be improved, and how things could be made better.

“We want to be able to provide services that are highly responsive and deliver care as close to home as possible, so we want to know if GP out-of-hours appointments are available in the correct places.”

People will be asked about their recent experience of NHS111 and GP out-of-hours services when their own GP practice was closed.

Dr Fawcett added: “We want to gather as much information about the experience of patients as possible. We also want to hear their opinion on questions such as how far they would be prepared to travel for a GP out-of-hours appointment and how long they would be prepared to wait.”
