Homeless – Access to Health Care

on .

Throughout June-September 2017 an engagement took place with homeless people and service providers to understand the health needs of homeless people, the findings from this engagement will be used to inform the future commissioning of Health Care Services for the homeless people of Northern Staffordshire.

The term ‘homelessness’ is often considered to apply only to people ‘sleeping rough’. However, most statistics on homelessness relate to the statutorily homeless, i.e. those households which meet specific criteria of priority need set out in legislation, and to whom a homelessness duty has been accepted by a local authority.
