Dr Lorna Clarson has been appointed as The Clinical Chair for Stoke-on-Trent from 1st January 2019.
After qualifying as a doctor, she completed her training at the Royal Stoke Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford, and has worked at practices across Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent.
Alongside her role at the CCG, Lorna works as a GP at Brook Medical Centre and as a Senior Lecturer in General Practice Research at Keele University, where she has researched and had papers published on osteoarthritis and gout. She is a former Vice Chair of the North Staffordshire Local Medical Committee.
She feels it is important that decisions to commission treatments and services are based on the needs of local patients, strong research evidence and best practice to ensure that the patients of Stoke-on-Trent receive the high quality healthcare they need.
